Coastal Plastic Surgery Center has been providing the standard of excellence in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery since 1987. The practice consists of offices in Madison, Middletown and Windham and is devoted exclusively to plastic surgery which encompasses both reconstructive and cosmetic procedures. The term plastic comes from the Greek word "plasticos" which means to mold or give shape. Plastic surgery is a specialty which makes it possible to reform the human body. Procedures that heal and restore patients from disfigurement due to injury, disease or birth defects are called reconstructive; while those that enhance appearance by recontouring facial and body features are called aesthetic or cosmetic procedures. Coastal Plastic Surgery has expertise in all areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery. The standard of excellence has always been the major hallmark of this practice with innovative ideas and services first offered by this practice to the people in Connecticut. Our goal is to provide the safest and most advanced proven medical techniques for aesthetic surgery. we feel this is important since many different types of doctors perform plastic surgery throughout the country. However, not all of them have the same degree of training and experience in this specialty. "Plastic Surgery" and "Plastic Surgeon" are not interchangeable terms. A complete plastic surgeon is one who has finished a residency in a major surgical specialty such as general surgery and then has followed up the training with a two or three year program specifically in plastic surgery. This makes the plastic surgeon thoroughly knowledgeable in the entire body and skilled in both the aesthetic and reconstructive technique. Thus, the training and full scope of plastic surgery (and not just the particular body part or particular procedure oriented practices) promotes quality and expert service no matter what challenges may arise in the course of a patient's treatment. Leon
A. Goldstein received his college degree from Yale University
and M.D. Degree from Albany Medical College in 1978. Dr.
Goldstein underwent seven years of surgical training at Brown
University in general surgery. Dr. Goldstein is board certified
by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the
American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the
Northeast Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Dr.
Goldstein is also a member of the International College of
Surgeons, The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery,
International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and the
American Society for Hair Restoration Surgery. Dr. Goldstein has
privileges at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael's Hospital
and Middlesex Hospital.
